Bowling

On the 29th of April some people from P6 and 7 went to Meadowmill to play in a bowls competition. We were split into two groups. We were group two. On our first game we won by one point. On our second game we played Pinkie St Peters (another school in East Lothian). We won 16 to 2. Then we had lunch. After lunch we played another game that we won. We were chosen to play for third place in the finals! But unfortunately we lost. We came forth out of sixteen schools.

Meadowbank

Just now in gym we are training for Meadowbank.
At Meadowbank there are different events like: High Jump, Long Jump, Cricket Ball Throw, Tug of War, Sprint, Relay Race and more.
My favourites (Loch Ness) are the High Jump and The Tug Of War.
My favourites (Saltire) are Cricket Ball Throw, Long Jump and Relay Race.
Meadowbank is a big sports place, where lots of schools are trying to win their event.
Lots of people don't get to go because you only have a few people who go to each event.

Planting bulbs in the nursery

Before Easter, the ground force team planted some seeds with the nursery class. We planted nasturtiums. We had to put some compost in a pot then make a hole with your finger. Once we had done that we had to put the seed in the hole and cover it with more compost. We had the compost in a bucket and one little boy tipped it upside down and compost went everywhere!!! It was a lot of fun and as a reward we got a piece of cake each. (YUMMY!!!)

Active maths

On the Open Morning we did active maths where we had to find out how many millilitres (ml) a bottle could hold. Everyone had to get a measuring container and find out how many ml the bottle could hold. At the end people had done a lot of measuring and there was lots of water on the floor.

Sands of Time

Yester Primary were part of Scottish Opera (Sands of Time) on Tuesday 21st of April. We were the explorers . We performed in Knox Academy with Kings Meadow Primary who were the Egyptians and the Assyrians. We all had different costumes. We were taught the actions and dance by a singer called Zoe. In the end it went well and we all had fun.

Animation Project

In our environmental studies time we are doing an animation project. It's really fun, even though it's also very difficult. The characters keep falling over and their heads keep falling off. We are all having a great time. The whole thing is based on the history, myths and legends of the Borders area of Scotland. Some people are doing a film on the Romans, some on castles, some on horses and some on people. Thistle's group is doing one on The Pink Lady and Adder's group is doing his on Romans and Borders. To find out more look at : http://www.landsbeyondthewall.co.uk/ We all enjoy our project.

Thank you!

Thank you, Gyllenborg skole, for sending us a present. We are very pleased and we have looked at all the maps and now have a better idea where your school is. The oldest and youngest pupil opened the present. The oldest got sharp scissors and the youngest got tiny scissors and others pulled at the box. In the first photo you can see everyone crowding round just after the box was opened.

Mary Poppins

Some people from primary 7 and primary 6 were doing a sort of play on Mary Poppins. We only had 6 weeks to learn it but unfortunately some people quit so we almost had to STOP the whole play. In the end we managed it. We did it and it lasted 45 minutes. We had so much fun.

Open Morning

We had an open morning at Yester Primary School. An open morning is when parents come into the school and see what goes on. They look at our work and have a look at all our projects. They sometimes chat to our teacher and ask questions about our class projects when we are working. We enjoyed seeing our parents and they enjoyed seeing our work.

Holidays, sun and loads more fun!

Yay! It's Easter in two weeks and holidays start tomorrow. The sun has finally arrived and it was really hot yesterday. We were almost dancing in the playground and it was really fun! We all made Easter cards on Tuesday with little chicks and bunnies. Everyone is getting presents like chocolate bunnies and truffles with chicks! And some people even got big Easter eggs! The Eco group run the Fair Trade stall and they were selling Easter gifts too! We had our Easter assembly and that was fun because all our parents came to watch. Everyone is looking forward to the holidays and we hope you are too.

Rugby Festival

P7 went to play a rugby festival at the Gifford park. We were split into groups and we played a match. It wasn't a full contact rugby game. It was touch rugby. Touch rugby is when you touch the person with the ball on the waist with both hands and that means that the person with the ball has to pass to someone in their team.
We had lots of fun!!!
